Between 1946 and 1947 the Kit Manufacturing Company of Norwalk California produced 4,500 “Kit Kampers,” the iconic 4’x8’ teardrop upon which nearly all modern teardrops draw inspiration. Highly regarded for its clean aesthetic and easy towability this classic design is now available as a modern build from Trailers4Two.

Can my vehicle pull a Trailers4Two 1947 Kit teardrop? Why yes! With a curb weight of just 750 pounds it’s one of the lightest trailers on the road! For reference, a 4-cylinder Subaru Outback has a tow capacity of 2700+ pounds. With it’s long wheel base, narrow profile, and 15″ tires, you’ll forget it’s back there. So keep your eye on it! The DOT VIN makes DMV registration super EZ.

The interior is classic, clean, and simple. The bed fills the space with a comfortable 4.5″ memory foam mattress. Two shelves span the foot zone — the lower shelf is perfect for small items like phones, books, flashlights and water bottles; the upper gear loft holds your overnight bags. Each side has its own reading light, door and window for cross ventilation.
